Aleppo, Syria− A bombed-car exploded on Thursday in front of a Syrian refugee camp in Bab al-Salama area at the Syrian-Turkish border, north of Aleppo. At least 20 civilians were killed and 40 others were reportedly injured de to the explosion.

Yasin Ali, a human rights activist based in Bab al-Salam area, told ARA News that the bombed car belonged to al-Qaeda affiliated group of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

“The wounded were transferred to Turkish hospitals near the border, which suffer a shortage of emergency supplies,” said Ali.

On Tuesday, the border crossing of Bab al-Salama (50km north of Aleppo) was exposed to bombardment by the ISIL fighters who used tank shells and mortars.

The recent bombings coincided with the reopening of the crossing by the Turkish authorities earlier this week, after being closed temporarily in response to the ongoing military operations between battalions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and members of ISIL in the area.
