Aleppo, Syria− The air force loyal to President Bashar al-Assad shelled on Friday neighbourhoods in the city of Aleppo in Syria’s north as well as villages in its northern countryside. 15 civilians were reportedly killed and dozens others injured in the attack.
Ismail Aziz, human rights activist based in the city of Aleppo, told ARA News that the regime forces shelled with heavy artillery the neighborhood of Masakin Hanano in Aleppo from their base in the Sheikh Yusuf hill, killing five civilians, including one child and a woman.
“The injured have been transferred to the field hospital in the neighborhood (Masakin Hanano),” said Aziz.
“The pro-regime helicopters dropped explosive barrels on the village of Anjara in Aleppo suburb, killing five civilians, including a child,” Azizi added. “Dozen of injured including many critical cases were transferred to a field hospital in the town of Darat Azza in Aleppo suburb”.
Aziz pointed out that four other civilians were killed and nearly 20 others injured, in the town of Darat Azza in a similar air strike (by helicopters) on the town’s neighbourhoods. The field hospital in the town received the injured, according to Aziz.
This comes amid continuing clashes around the Air Force Intelligence Division in Aleppo between the pro-regime forces and the opposition fighters in the neighbourhood of al-Liramoun.
