Kobane, Syria – Militants of al-Qaeda  offshoot group of the Islamic State (previously known as the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant ‘ISIL’) dominated on Friday evening Bayada and Ziyara villages in the countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) city, north of Syria, after clashes with the Popular Protection Units YPG (linked to the Democratic Union Party ‘PYD’).

A number of residents in Taliki village, near the clashes area, stated to ARA News that about 8 ISIL militants reportedly killed during the clashes.

The ISIL stormed the villages without resistance after the YPG withdrawal amid mass exodus of the three villagers towards the Turkish border, where the Turkish authorities opened the crossings to those fleeing people, a displaced civilian from Ziyara village told ARA News.

“ISIL carried out looting operations against civilians’ property in Ziyara village,” the source added.

One of the YPG fighters in the area stated to ARA News on the phone that the YPG “withdrew tactically in order to inflict great losses in the ISIL ranks later on”.

The clashes broke out between the two parties two days ago where many casualties were reported on both sides, according to previous statements by the leading member of the YPG forces, Mahmoud Badirkhan.

The ISIL death toll reached since the start of Ramadan month about 85 militant most of them are Arabs and foreigners, according to local sources.

In an earlier interview with ARA News, Ahmed Hisso, spokesman of al-Akrad Front brigade (linked to the FSA and backs the YPG against ISIL), said: “The battle fronts in the region included Serrin, al-Shuyoukh, Zor Maghar, Kharab Atto, and Jeb al-Faraj villages”, pointing out that about 35 ISIL militants were killed during the early hours of Friday.

“A number of ISIL-led military vehicles were destroyed during the battles,” Hisso said.
