Aleppo, Syria – Military forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad seized an area north of Aleppo after clashes with rebel factions on Sunday.

Pro-Assad forces controlled an area east of al-Mileh farms in Aleppo province, local sources reported.

The regime forces are reportedly trying to cut off supply routes of the rebel fighters in northern and eastern Aleppo.

Clashes on Sunday claimed lives of at least 30 rebel fighters which included militants of al-Nusra Front, who collaborated to repel attacks by the regime forces in northern Aleppo.

The regime military forces were reportedly backed by Shiite militants of Hezbollah, military sources in Aleppo told ARA News

The city of Aleppo is awaiting the implementation of a cease fire initiated by the U.N. special envoy Steffan de Mistura, amid concerns by the Syrian opposition about possible advance by the pro-Assad forces in the embattled city in case this initiative takes place.
