Aleppo, Syria – Syrian regime’s helicopters dropped several barrel bombs on al-Bab city in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, causing dozens of casualties among civilians, local media activists reported on Saturday.

Speaking to ARA News in Aleppo, media activist Mustafa Ayan reported that the medical teams in the city of al-Bab announced the death of at least 70 people, mostly women and children, after their areas where hit with barrel bombs fired by pro-Assad forces on Saturday.

The medical teams added that more than 90 others were wounded, many of them are in critical conditions.

Ayan pointed out that the massacre committed by the Syrian regime helicopters took place at al-Hal market in al-Bab city “at noon, when large numbers of civilians usually gather”.

The city of al-Bab has been under the control of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) since more than a year.

In the meantime, the pro-Assad air force targeted the Shaar neighborhood in the city of Aleppo with several barrel bombs, causing the death of more than 15 people, including women and children, in addition to the injury of more than 20 others.
