Qamishli, Syria – The U.S.-led international coalition’s warplanes bombed locations of the Islamic State group (IS/ISIS) in Mount Abdulaziz and the village of Tel Jadadiya in the countryside of the town of Tel Temir, while a U.S. Apache helicopter bombarded the village and junction of Laylan in the countryside of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), military sources reported on Thursday.

Speaking to ARA News, a fighter from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) said (on the condition of anonymity) that an American Apache helicopter has targeted several IS locations in support of the Kurdish forces against terrorists as fierce clashes swept the countryside of Tel Temir.

The source added that this is the first time a U.S. Apache is engaged in anti-IS airstrikes.

In the meantime, the pro-Syrian regime warplanes pounded IS locations in the village of Sabaa Suqur and the checkpoint of Tunaineer, southeast of the city of Hasakah with heavy artillery, while the IS radicals responded to the attacks with launching mortars on the pro-Assad forces and allied militia.

Additionally, the group’s mortar shells dropped on the headquarters of the YPG and allied forces in the town of Tel Temir, in the Hasakah countryside, without causing any casualties.

Local source reported that sporadic clashes continue between IS militants and the regime’s army in the villages of Sabaa Suqur and Rad Shaqra, southeast of the city of Hasakah city.

“Fierce clashes broke out between the IS jihadists and the YPG forces in Tel ash-Shara and Waarat in Sere Kanye amid intensified U.S. Apache sorties on Thursday’s afternoon,” local activists told ARA News.

Also in Tel Temir fighting front, the IS group launched an offensive on the locations of the joint forces (YPG, Syriac Military Council and Haras al-Khabur force) in Tel Jadaya on the highway linking Tel Temir with Hasakah.

Over the past two months, sporadic fighting between the Kurdish YPG fighters and jihadists continued in several Kurdish areas in northeastern Syria, including villages in the countryside of Sere Kaniye and Hasakah’s suburbs, coupled with limited U.S. airstrikes on IS locations in the area.
