Damascus, Syria – On Thursday, the Israeli army responded with heavy artillery after several rockets fired from Syria exploded in Israel’s north. This coincided with airstrikes by the Israeli air force on locations inside Syria.

At least four rockets were fired at the northern Galilee and Golan Heights on Thursday afternoon, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Two rockets landed in the northern Galilee, and two in the Golan Heights. No damage or injuries were reported.

“The army sees Syria as responsible for the fire, and it will pay the price for it,” a spokesman for the IDF said in a statement.

The rockets were likely fired from territory area under the control of Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime. The Syrian government only controls the area around the village of Khader near the border with Israel, but deeper inside the Syrian Golan Heights there are additional areas under the Assad regime’s control.

Syrian state media reported that Thursday’s attack was conducted by an artillery unit of the Syrian army’s 90th Brigade stationed north of Quneitra.
