Urfa, Turkey– Continuous clashes took place over the last week between the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on one hand and fighters of Fajir al-Hurriya Brigade and al-Akrad Front on the other in predominantly Kurdish villages in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Speaking to ARA News, the official spokesman of al-Akrad (Kurdish) Front, Ahmad Hisso, said that the ISIL fighters have fortified themselves in those villages and have used heavy weapons during its clashes with rebel forces of al-Akrad Front and Fajir al-Hurriya.

“As our (al-Akrad Front) fighting against the ISIL expanded towards al-Bab and Azaz city, dozens of ISIL fighters were killed over the last week,” Hisso said.

According to Hisso, the battles spread over the Kurdish villages of Tel Sheyeer, Khalfatly, Tel Battal, Kadrish and Zayadiya, north of Syria’s Aleppo.

“The acceleration of these clashes subsided on Qare Qozak area near Jarablus city on Sunday morning, while fighters of the armed opposition targeted ISIL headquarters inside Jarablus, causing injuries in the ranks of ISIL,” Hisso told ARA News.
